As an emerging painter with with background studies
in design and architecture, Genevieve Saucier incorporates
the aesthetic side of those practices to her paintings.
Building her images like a collage, she paints in a multi-step
process, layering colors, transparencies and shapes.
This leads to a paradox between an organized, constructed
imagery and an intuitive, random way of getting there.
The results are reminiscent of an abstract architectural
plan. The viewer can always see and imagine his own
landscape in those she has created.
Genevieve Saucier was born and studied arts in Quebec,
Canada. She has a college degree in interior design
and a BFA from the University of Quebec in Montreal.
Her work has been shown in several group and solo shows
in Montreal, Atlanta and New York.
"In my exploration of bi-dimensional space, I want
to lead the viewer through a puzzle of superpositions.
Working in layers and windows, I use depth and colors
to create abstract sceneries. I am in an ever-changing
quest for an aesthetic that will balance formal geometry
and spontaneous creativity".
